Are you a patient, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in a young person's life?
We are working with a fantastic, well-equipped SEN school in South Shields that boasts a welcoming atmosphere, excellent facilities, plenty of space for pupils to learn and thrive, and a strong leadership team that genuinely supports its staff.
We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a young boy with additional needs, helping him to engage with learning, develop positive relationships and reach his full potential.
The pupil can occasionally display low-level challenging behaviour, so we are looking for someone who is calm, confident and consistent, with the ability to build trust, establish clear boundaries and respond positively to challenging situations.
The role:
*
Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
*
Supporting the pupil's learning, engagement and emotional regulation.
*
Using positive behaviour strategies to encourage appropriate behaviours and build confidence.
*
Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team to ensure consistent support.
*
Creating a safe, structured and encouraging learning environment.
The ideal candidate will:
*
Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally in a school or specialist setting.
*
Be patient, resilient, proactive and confident in managing low-level challenging behaviour.
*
Have a positive, nurturing approach and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.
*
Be consistent, adaptable and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
What's on offer?
*
A fantastic, well-resourced SEN school with excellent facilities.
*
A welcoming, supportive atmosphere and strong leadership.
*
A rewarding 1:1 role where you can make a real difference.
*
Consistent weekday hours, 8:30am–3:30pm.
*
The opportunity to develop your experience within a specialist SEN setting.
If you're passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and want to join a school where staff are supported to do their best work, we'd love to hear from you.
