About the School

A welcoming primary school in Southwark is looking for a dedicated 1:1 SEN LSA to provide consistent, personalised support to a child with complex additional needs.

The school is committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child is supported to communicate, engage and make meaningful progress.

The Role

As a 1:1 SEN LSA, you will work closely with the child and wider school team to provide tailored support throughout the school day.

You will support communication, learning, engagement and personal development while helping the child access the curriculum and wider school environment.

The role will involve:

Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a non-verbal child
Supporting a child with Cerebral Palsy (CP)
Using AAC communication systems to support communication
Using Makaton to encourage communication and interaction
Supporting engagement within lessons and wider school activities
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team
Adapting activities and resources around the child's individual needs
Supporting the child's independence, confidence and social development

The Ideal Candidate

The school is looking for an experienced and compassionate LSA / SEN Teaching Assistant who can build a strong relationship with the child and provide consistent support.

You will ideally have:

Previous experience supporting children with complex SEN
Experience working with non-verbal children
Knowledge or practical experience of AAC
Experience using Makaton
Experience supporting children with physical disabilities / Cerebral Palsy
A patient, nurturing and proactive approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine commitment to inclusive educationThis role would particularly suit an experienced SEN TA, LSA, support worker or teaching assistant with relevant specialist experience.
