We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a KS1 boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

Key Responsibilities Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day. Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil to promote engagement and emotional wellbeing. Support the implementation of individual learning and behaviour support plans. Use positive behaviour support strategies to help the pupil regulate emotions and manage challenging behaviour safely. Encourage communication, social interaction, independence, and confidence. Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, parents/carers, and external professionals to ensure a consistent approach. Record observations, monitor progress, and contribute to review meetings where appropriate. Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Experience supporting children who display behaviours that challenge. A calm, patient, and resilient approach, with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. An understanding of positive behaviour support, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed practice. The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider school team. A genuine commitment to helping every child achieve their potential.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Team Teach, PRICE, or other positive handling/de-escalation training (desirable but not essential). Experience working in a specialist or mainstream educational setting supporting pupils with SEND. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection responsibilities.
