The Position - 1:1 TA

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Lambeth is seeking a dedicated 1:1 TA to join their team from September. This is a full-time position supporting a non-verbal pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on a one-to-one basis throughout the school day.Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will provide personalised support to help the pupil engage with learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom. You will adapt learning activities to meet the child's individual needs while encouraging independence and promoting positive social interactions with peers.The successful candidate will have previous experience supporting children with ASD, particularly non-verbal pupils, and will be patient, proactive, and able to remain calm in challenging situations. Experience using communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables would be advantageous but is not essential. Above all, you will be committed to creating a positive and supportive learning environment where the child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
