About the Role
We are seeking a caring, committed, and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with additional needs within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Erdington, Birmingham.
This rewarding role involves working closely with an individual pupil, helping them to access learning, develop social skills, and achieve their full potential in a supportive classroom environment. The successful candidate will work alongside class teachers, SENCOs, and parents to provide consistent and effective support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs.
* Assist the child in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.
* Support the development of social, emotional, and communication skills.
* Implement strategies and interventions as directed by the class teacher and SENCO.
* Record and report on the pupil’s progress and wellbeing.
* Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
* Attend meetings and training as required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or similar setting.
* A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
* Confidence in supporting children with additional needs.
* A proactive and flexible attitude.
Qualifications
* Childcare, Teaching Assistant, or relevant educational qualifications are preferred.
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are desirable.
* Relevant safeguarding training is advantageous.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
