Job Description - 1st Line Support Technician

Job Title: 1st Line Support technician

Location: Crosshills, BD20 8TA

Salary: £25,000 starting salary though with a review after probation and a review annually

Position: Permanent Full/Part time (Flexible Hours available)

The company are currently looking for a 1st Line Support technician to join their small but growing business. The right candidate must be reliable, hardworking, be self-motivated and have a keen interest in IT. We are very much a team here and the successful applicant must be able to work well with others and be willing to go that extra mile when needed. Good communication skills are vital as the candidate would be dealing with users both over the phone and in face to face situations.

The role will involve working with several different systems and software platforms such as Microsoft Windows, MacOS, Linux, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office, Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, VMware, Hyper-V, and VOIP. Experience with basic hardware, software, and networking is essential. Experience with any additional platforms would be advantageous.

Day to day duties will involve answering the phone / support emails and dealing the support issues and logging them into a helpdesk system. Therefore, being organised and being able to prioritize work load is a must. Site visits will need to be made to various clients up and down the country so applicant must be prepared to travel. There will also be some admin and office duties such as ordering hardware and software, and organizing deliveries and collections to client's sites.

Hours of work are generally between 9:00am and 5:30pm Monday to Friday however given the nature of the business the applicant needs to be flexible as sometimes earlier starts and evening or weekend work are required.

Benefits include out of hours work incentive and a regular pay review.

Ideal candidate would have full UK Driving Licence or be in process of obtaining one.

Qualifications required:

  • Ideally 5 GCSE Grades (C and above) or equivalent, including Maths and English.
  • Either College level IT qualification or relevant work experience.
