Location: Aintree, Liverpool
Start date: Post October half-term 2026 (November)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday - 8:30am - 3:30pm
Contract: Temporary to permanent

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a long-term position where you can make a real difference to two pupils?

Teaching Personnel is working with a welcoming primary school in Aintree, Liverpool, to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant from October half-term 2026.

You will work on a 2:1 basis, supporting two pupils in Year 2 throughout the school day. The role will initially be offered on a temporary basis through Teaching Personnel, with the intention of becoming permanent for the right person.

The role will involve:

Supporting two Year 2 pupils with their learning and engagement
Helping the pupils access classroom activities and follow instructions
Breaking tasks into clear, manageable steps
Providing encouragement, reassurance and consistent support
Supporting the development of confidence and independence
Helping with phonics, reading, writing and early mathematics
Using visual resources and adapted activities where appropriate
Supporting positive behaviour, classroom routines and emotional regulation
Monitoring progress and feeding back to the class teacher and SENCO
Working closely with school staff to provide consistent support

We would love to hear from you if you:

Have recent experience working as a Teaching Assistant
Are confident supporting pupils within KS1, ideally Year 2
Can build positive and trusting relationships with children
Have a calm, patient and consistent approach
Are able to adapt activities to meet individual needs
Work well alongside teachers, support staff and the SENCO
Are reliable and able to commit to a long-term position
Would be interested in progressing into a permanent school role
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification would be advantageous, but applicants with strong, relevant school experience will also be considered.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
