The Role

We are looking for a reliable and flexible person who is happy to drive a 3.5 tonne flatbed vehicle for a specialist engineering company based in Bridgwater.

This is a genuinely flexible, ongoing opportunity that could suit someone looking for regular part-time work, someone retired who wants to keep busy, or anyone looking to supplement their income or pension.

The role involves delivering engineering equipment and materials to customers and site works across the UK as and when the need arises. Trips can vary considerably – you could be making a short local delivery one day, not working for a couple of days then undertaking a full-day UK delivery the next.  There is no requirement for fixed full-time hours however for drivers who want additional hours, there may also be the opportunity to make up hours within the factory, depending on your preference and the company's workload.

Key Responsibilities

Driving a 3.5 tonne flatbed vehicle safely and responsibly.
Delivering engineering equipment, materials and components to customers and site works throughout the UK.
Loading and securing loads safely and checking that items are appropriately secured before travelling.  Help will be available
Completing delivery paperwork and obtaining customer signatures where required.
Representing the company professionally when dealing with customers and site personnel.
Carrying out basic vehicle checks and reporting any issues.
Keeping the vehicle clean, tidy and in good condition.
Supporting the engineering/factory team with other practical duties if additional hours are required.
About You

We are looking for someone who is:

A reliable and responsible driver.
Comfortable driving a 3.5 tonne flatbed vehicle.
Flexible regarding working days and hours.
Customer-focused and professional.
Physically capable of handling engineering items and securing loads.  Support will be available in most cases
Happy working independently and travelling to different locations.
Ideally experienced in delivery driving, transport or engineering environments, although relevant experience will be considered.
A full UK driving licence suitable for driving a 3.5 tonne vehicle is essential.
