Job Description - 3rd Line Support Engineer

3rd Line Support Engineer - Solve it. Support it. Step into more.

£32,000 - £35,000 | Portsmouth | 43 Days Holiday + 26% Pension

You're the one people turn to when the usual fixes don’t work.

You’ve built up a solid foundation in IT support and now you're ready for a role where you can bring your experience to the table, while also setting your sights on what comes next.

This is your chance to join an established internal IT team in Portsmouth, taking on a 3rd Line Support role that blends business-as-usual support with the chance to get involved in infrastructure and project work as your career develops.

Location: Portsmouth (office-based)

What you’ll be doing:

Acting as the escalation point for 2nd line - owning and resolving complex technical issues.

Supporting a Microsoft-led environment: Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, etc.

Working closely with internal users and the wider IT team to keep everything running smoothly.

Contributing to small infrastructure or improvement projects where needed.

Helping to develop documentation and mentor junior team members.

Building a platform for future progression into deeper infrastructure and project delivery roles.

What we’re looking for:

Strong experience in a 3rd line (or high-level 2nd line) support role.

Solid knowledge across Microsoft technologies - including Windows Server and 365.

A self-starter who takes ownership of problems and sees them through.

Great communication skills, calm under pressure and clear with users.

Someone who’s ready to grow, you want to move towards projects and infrastructure over time.

This isn’t a dead-end support role.
