Our client is seeking an experienced ESN 5G RAN/E2E Performance & Parameter Optimisation Specialist to support the delivery and optimisation of the UK's Emergency Services Network (ESN). This is a high-impact role within the RAN Systematic Optimisation Team, responsible for ensuring exceptional 4G/5G performance, service reliability and customer experience across one of the UK's most critical communications networks.

Working alongside industry-leading experts, you will play a key role in shaping network performance strategy, driving optimisation initiatives, and delivering service improvements that directly support emergency services across the UK.

The Opportunity

As the subject matter expert for 4G/5G performance and optimisation, you will be responsible for analysing network performance, identifying root causes of degradation, and implementing feature and parameter improvements across Nokia and Ericsson RAN environments.

You will have significant influence over network strategy, performance targets, KPI frameworks, SLA achievement, and future 5G+ capability development.

Key Responsibilities

Lead 4G/5G ESN performance management activities to exceed service SLAs and customer experience expectations.
Design, define and evolve performance KPIs aligned to real user experience.
Conduct root cause analysis of network performance issues across RAN and end-to-end services.
Develop optimisation plans using OSS trends, network counters, KPIs, crowdsourced data and customer performance metrics.
Perform feature and parameter optimisation trials across Nokia and Ericsson RAN networks.
Evaluate trial outcomes, quantify gains and assess wider network impacts.
Drive improvements in 5G Standalone (SA), Non-Standalone (NSA) and 4G/5G interworking performance.
Analyse drive test logs, protocol traces and performance data to identify service-affecting issues.
Investigate systematic network defects impacting Public Safety services, including Push-to-Talk performance.
Collaborate with suppliers, vendors and internal stakeholders to deliver effective resolution plans.
Provide technical leadership and knowledge-sharing across the optimisation community.

Technical Expertise Required

Essential

Extensive experience as a Network Performance or RAN Optimisation SME within mobile telecommunications.
Deep expertise in LTE, 5G and 5G+ performance management and optimisation.
Strong understanding of KPI definition, design, measurement and benchmarking.
Expert-level knowledge of Nokia RAN performance management and optimisation.
Hands-on experience investigating and optimising:
4G LTE
5G SA & NSA
VoNR
Network Slicing
End-to-End Mobile Services
Strong understanding of Ericsson and Nokia counters, KPIs and troubleshooting methodologies.
Ability to analyse:
Drive test logs
Wireshark traces
Protocol analyser traces
UE Layer 1-3 logs
OSS performance data
In-depth knowledge of LTE and 5G signalling.
Experience troubleshooting SIP, SRTP, DTLS and Push-to-Talk services.
Knowledge of 3GPP and ETSI standards.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
