We are looking for a reliable, motivated, and physically fit 7.5 Tonne Delivery Driver to join our team. working for one of the largest distributions of Furniture.
This role involves regular manual handling, including loading and unloading heavy and bulky items, so a good level of physical fitness is essential Assisted by Drivers mate Full time Temp to Perm 4 days on 3 days off - 07:00-19:00 £19.62 per hour inclusive of holiday pay
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate a 7.5 tonne delivery vehicle in accordance with UK road traffic laws and company policies. Complete scheduled deliveries and collections efficiently and on time. Load and unload goods, ensuring all items are handled safely and securely. Carry heavy and bulky items, including lifting, moving, and delivering products to customer premises where required. Conduct daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects or maintenance issues. Plan delivery routes to maximise efficiency and minimise delays. Provide a professional, friendly, and courteous service to customers. Maintain the cleanliness, security, and condition of the vehicle. Follow all company health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling practices. Ensure goods are secured correctly during transportation. Comply with all applicable drivers' hours, tachograph, and working-time requirements.Essential Requirements
Full UK driving licence with the appropriate entitlement to drive a 7.5 tonne vehicle (Category C1). Valid Driver CPC qualification, where required. Valid Digital Tachograph Driver Card, where required. Clean or acceptable driving record. Good knowledge of UK road safety regulations and drivers' hours requirements. Good communication and customer service skills. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently. Physically fit and capable of repeatedly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy items throughout the working day. Ability to work under pressure and meet delivery deadlines.Desirable Requirements
Previous experience driving a 7.5 tonne or other HGV/Class 2 vehicle. Previous experience as a multi-drop or delivery driver. Experience using handheld delivery devices or route-planning systems. Knowledge of manual handling best practices. Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge. Good knowledge of local and UK-wide road networks.Physical Requirements This role is physically demanding and requires candidates to:
Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 25 kg, with team lifting or mechanical aids used where appropriate. Load and unload deliveries throughout the working day. Walk, bend, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods. Safely handle heavy and bulky goods. Work in a variety of weather conditions.
