Job Description - Account Director, Insights, Analytics

Opportunity


Brunswick Group is seeking an experienced Account Director, Insights, Analytics to join its London team. This person will play a key role in supporting the team’s analytics work globally, working closely with the Global Head as well as other colleagues, including our Digital and AI Lab teams. 


The role will see the person join at a critical moment as AI revolutionises analytics research while the media environment becomes increasingly fragmented. While the majority of work done will be in support of clients, new business and thought leadership, a significant focus will also be on evolving our analytics methods, ensuring we deliver timely, high-quality and compelling insights in the most efficient manner possible.


About Brunswick Insights  


Brunswick Insight is the firm’s strategic research hub, helping to bring a more comprehensive view of the outside world to inform the advice Brunswick gives to its clients.


The team specialises in conducting qualitative and quantitative opinion research, as well as leveraging cutting-edge tools to analyse “passive” sources of insight such as news coverage, social media posts, search data, etc.


Insights generated inform client strategy, underpinning campaign and communication strategies, and providing key insights at business-critical moments, as well as the firm’s pursuit of new business opportunities and thought leadership.


The Insight team is made up of around 20 people globally with hubs in Brunswick’s London, New York and Washington DC offices. Members come from a wide variety of backgrounds including political polling, market research, journalism and digital start-ups.


About the Role


The person would be expected to support the following tasks:



  • Identify client needs and translate these into research a brief

  • Conduct test research to establish feasibility, research design and tool(s) used

  • Gather, clean and prepare data samples, using tools and manual approaches

  • Analyse data to identify patterns, trends, etc, and extract client-relevant insights

  • Communicate research findings in both writing (ie, PPT report) and orally

  • Facilitate the smooth-running of research projects

  • Identify and test new tools and suppliers that might enrich our offer

  • Upskill colleagues so they can better support analytics research projects

  • Promote and support an insight-driven culture within the firm


What We’re Looking For


Essential



  • Proven track record of media evaluation, social media analysis, influencer-mapping, etc

  • Has used off-the-shelf media analytics tools (eg, Brandwatch, Quid, Factiva, etc)

  • Experience using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT), to go beyond simple prompting to design workflows for data analysis, transformation, and complex reasoning tasks

  • Experienced using data to inform advice on critical business issues and strategy

  • Good understanding and interest in current affairs, in particular business issues

  • Familiar with what corporate affairs teams do and the challenges they face

  • Understands the traditional media landscape and how journalists/news outlets work

  • Uses social media often and is interested in platforms, behaviours and influencing

  • Can move beyond out-of-the-box charts, using data visualisation tools to customise and elevate outputs for insight and storytelling

  • Proficient in using Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook


Desirable



  • Keen interest in financial and business issues and communication strategy.

  • Advanced Excel skills (data modelling, pivots, formulas, visualisation)

  • Experience using APIs, data pipelines, databases and dashboarding (eg, Tableau)

  • Experience with relational mapping tools to conduct social graph analysis

  • Programming capability in Python, including data science libraries

  • Fluent in French, German, Italian and/or Spanish as well as English

  • Strong organisational skills in particular prioritisation and time management

  • Continuous learner, seeking opportunities and feedback to develop skills
