Job Description - Account Executive

Job Title: Account Executive / Commercial Broker
Location: Hayle, Cornwall
Salary: £35,000+ basic (DOE) + performance-based bonus

About the Company:
An independently owned, chartered insurance brokerage is opening a new office in Cornwall to expand its national footprint. Known for its collaborative, non-hierarchical culture and investment in staff development, the business is building a specialist team focused on marine and commercial trade. With a strong leadership team, clear progression pathways, and real autonomy from day one, this is an opportunity to be part of something genuinely exciting.

Role Summary:
This is a hands-on Account Executive role with full visibility of your portfolio and support from an experienced, approachable leadership team. You’ll handle existing clients across marine and SME commercial lines, while also developing new relationships to grow the book. Ideal for someone who enjoys building rapport, shaping their client base, and helping grow a new regional office from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage your own book of marine and commercial SME clients across renewals, MTAs, and cover reviews

  • Identify and convert new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and inbound leads

  • Build strong working relationships with underwriters, particularly for marine trade risks

  • Ensure all activity is compliant and in line with FCA expectations

  • Collaborate closely with handlers and the broader team to deliver service excellence

  • Play a key part in shaping the culture and trajectory of a growing regional hub

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a broking or account executive role, ideally with marine or commercial exposure

  • Confident managing client relationships and negotiating with insurers

  • Motivated self-starter with an interest in both servicing and developing accounts

  • Experience with Acturis is a plus

  • Comfortable working as part of a small, growing team with shared responsibility
