Accountant

Valeco Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a well-established accountancy practice based in Midlothian, to recruit an Accountant on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual with practice experience who is looking to work in a flexible hybrid role - just 1-2 days per week in the office, with the remainder from home.

About the Role:

As an Accountant, you’ll be supporting a varied portfolio of clients, including SMEs, individuals, and partnerships. You’ll be involved in both compliance and advisory work, with scope to develop your expertise in personal taxation and specialist advisory services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation and review of statutory accounts (FRS105 & FRS102)
• Corporation and personal tax returns
• VAT returns, sole trader and partnership accounts
• Trust tax returns and CGT 60-day reporting
• Advising clients and managing bespoke fee quotes
• Supporting and mentoring junior staff
• Xero, QuickBooks, and FreeAgent software support

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience in a practice environment
• Strong working knowledge of personal and corporate tax
• AAT qualified or working toward a professional accounting qualification
• Excellent communication and client management skills
• Proactive, organised, and confident in managing your own workload
