About the Role
An established and growing professional services firm is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its team initially 2 days a week with the potential to become 3. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing high-quality accounting support to businesses and individuals.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare annual statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies. Complete corporation tax, self-assessment, and other tax compliance work. Prepare and submit VAT returns. Manage bookkeeping and financial record maintenance for clients. Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. Prepare management accounts and financial reports. Support clients with accounting queries and provide practical financial guidance. Assist with year-end and month-end processes. Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and professional advisers. Maintain compliance with current accounting standards and tax legislation. Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and client service delivery. Digitalising the business Candidate Requirements
Essential
AAT qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience. Previous experience within an accountancy practice or professional services environment. Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, accounts preparation, and tax compliance. Experience preparing accounts for limited companies and sole traders. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities. Desirable
ACCA, ACA, or equivalent professional qualification (or studying towards qualification). Experience using cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage. Knowledge of UK VAT and corporation tax regulations. Experience managing a client portfolio. Key Skills
