If you enjoy working in a varied finance role where you can take ownership, use your initiative and make a real contribution, this could be an excellent opportunity.

Key responsibilities:

Processing day-to-day financial transactions accurately using Xero.
Completing bank and account reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
Monitoring outstanding customer invoices and proactively chasing overdue payments by telephone and email.
Allocating customer payments and maintaining accurate sales ledger records.
Reviewing aged debt reports and escalating overdue accounts where necessary.
Processing supplier invoices, checking documentation and preparing payments.
Allocating transactions to the correct cost centres.
Liaising with customers, suppliers and the external accountant.
Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month-end and year-end activities.
Assisting with compliance records, financial documentation and general accounts administration.
Identifying opportunities to improve processes and support the wider business.

About you

You'll be a practical, reliable and detail-focused finance professional who enjoys taking responsibility for your work.

Ideally, you'll have:

Previous experience in accounts administration, accounts assistance, bookkeeping or credit control.
Experience using Xero or another accounting package.
A good understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger and reconciliations.
Confidence chasing outstanding payments and having professional conversations about money owed.
Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
The ability to manage your workload independently and meet deadlines.
Good communication skills and a proactive approach.
A relevant qualification such as AAT would be beneficial but is not essential.

What's on offer?

Salary of £28,000-£32,000, depending on experience.
Full-time, permanent employment.
A varied role with genuine responsibility and ownership.
A supportive working environment.
The opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to improving finance processes.

Interested?

If you're looking for a hands-on accounts role where you can make a difference and become a valued member of the team, I'd love to hear from you.
