Accounts Assistant

Pure are currently working with an innovative research and technology business based in Saffron Walden to recruit an Accounts Assistant.

Our client is a UK-wide research and technology organisation that has experienced significant growth, doubling its headcount in the past year. This is a permanent position and will be office based for 4 days and 1 day from home.
This newly created position reports directly to the Finance Director and will support the core finance function across month-end reporting, accounts payable, payroll, and more. It’s a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a high-growth, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on core month-end tasks: prepayments, accruals, stock/WIP journals, fixed assets
• Maintain ledgers and produce trial balance reports with variance commentary
• Support the budgeting and forecasting process
• Manage end-to-end accounts payable, from POs to supplier payments
• Prepare payroll and VAT returns
• Contribute to audits, R&D tax claims, and finance projects

You must have proven experience in an accounting role where you have taken responsibility for the above duties and are comfortable taking ownership of these duties. You must be happy working within a small team and ideally have previously worked with Sage.
