Accounts Assistant

An independently owned freight forwarding company that has a 30-year history and has held an AEO accreditation for over 10 years is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant with all-round accounts experience.

What’s in it for you?

• Work hours: Monday to Friday - 9.00am - 5.30pm with an hour for lunch
• Salary: £25,000 to £30,000
• 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays

Accounts Assistant Responsibilities:

• Process and post purchase and sales invoices, ensuring accuracy and approval
• Support purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations
• Prepare and process weekly and monthly supplier payments
• Help month-end procedures, including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
• Assist in the preparation of management accounts, including analysis and reporting
• Maintain accurate financial records, ensuring all data is accurate
• Handle incoming invoice queries and credit control queries
• Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, and auditors
• Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and cover the role of the Senior Accounts Assistant during times of absence

Accounts Assistant Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
• Ideally qualified to AAT Level 3
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and practices
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Sage is advantageous
• Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
• Detail-oriented, accurate, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
• Proactive, willing to learn, and keen to broaden skills across all areas of accounts
