Job Description - Accounts Clerk - Hybrid working

We are currently recruiting an Accounts Assistant for our client, who is a well established and respected Legal practice with 11 offices across the North West, with its accounts function based in Preston.

As a member of the Accounts team you will ensure the accurate and timely processing of payments into and out of the practice, supporting the finance team in achieving overall financial objectives.


As a key member of the team, the Accounts Clerk will be responsible for achieving successful outcomes such as:

  • Successfully and accurately complete financial processes, transactions, and activities for the Firm.
  • Complete the day-to-day ledger activities including monitoring the centralised inbox, purchase invoices, credit notes, cash allocation, credit card and expenses in a timely manner, whilst meeting compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Strengthen and develop successful relationships with suppliers and internal clients by regular communication regarding expenses, invoices and reconciliation of financial statements; ensuring any queries are resolved.
  • Assist with cashflow management.
  • Preparing and processing payment runs.
  • Assist with the month end routines.
  • Continually review and make suggestions for efficiencies to be implemented and new practices to be initiated within the department.
  • Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting and comply with financial standards, policies and client requirements.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records, updating all relevant systems and records as required.

This is a new role due to company growth and our client is happy to tailor the role to suit the individuals strengths and experience - the role really will be tailored to fit you.

The role offers:

  • Starting salary £28,000 per annum
  • 35 hours per week 9.00am - 5.00pm one hour for lunch
  • Hybrid working. 3 days in the office /2 days at home if wanted
  • 25 days Holidays plus bank holidays
  • Pension, death in service
  • Chaity / Volunteer days - 3 a year
  • Corporate incentives/ events/ meals

The successful candidate MUST have recent experience working within an accounts team in a legal practice / solicitors

and Must live within a commutable distance of central Preston.
