Accounts Payable Assistant

Mpeople Recruitment is currently recruiting for an Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger Assistant to join our client's Finance team based in Oldham.

* Location: Oldham (OL4)

* Salary: £27,000 per annum

* Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible start and finish times

This individual will keep the purchase ledger running smoothly, ensuring invoices are processed accurately, suppliers are paid on time, and financial records are kept up to date.

Key Responsibilities:
- Processing purchase invoices accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Managing invoice approvals and ensuring the correct authorisations are in place.
- Preparing and processing supplier payments via BACS and cheque.
- Setting up new supplier accounts and responding to supplier queries.
- Reconciling supplier statements and investigating any discrepancies.
- Completing bank reconciliations and cashbook postings.
- Working with multi-currency bank accounts.
- Supporting month-end reporting and other finance activities.
- Identifying opportunities to improve and streamline purchase ledger processes.
- Providing general support to the wider Finance team as required.

Skills and Experience Required:

- 1–2 years' experience in an accounts payable, purchase ledger or similar finance role.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using Microsoft Business Central would be an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage your workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- A proactive, positive approach and the ability to work well as part of a team.
