Accounts Reconciliation Accountant

We are looking for an experienced accounts professional for our Chesterfield based client, to undertake remedial work on their supplier accounts and bring everything back into order.

The accounts require a thorough review, with missing invoices, discrepancies, unreconciled balances and general inconsistencies within the records.

We need someone with proven experience of dealing with untidy or problematic accounts who can take ownership, investigate issues and work through the backlog to get everything accurate, up to date and reconciled. This role would suit someone who enjoys problem-solving, is highly organised and has experience of going into a business and sorting out accounts that need attention.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Reviewing and reconciling supplier accounts.
* Investigating discrepancies and unreconciled balances.
* Identifying and tracing missing invoices and supporting documentation.
* Reviewing supplier statements and matching them against the purchase ledger.
* Investigating historical account queries and resolving outstanding issues.
* Liaising directly with suppliers to obtain missing information and resolve queries.
* Identifying and correcting errors and inconsistencies within the accounts.
* Bringing supplier accounts up to date and ensuring records are accurate.
* Ensuring all outstanding issues are properly investigated and resolved.

Experience and Skills Required
* Previous experience in purchase ledger / accounts payable.
* Strong experience in supplier statement reconciliations.
* Proven experience of remedial accounts work and resolving historical discrepancies.
* Confident investigating and resolving complex account queries.
* Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
* Able to work independently and take ownership of the task.
