Clark Wood is delighted to be working with a respected and growing regional firm of chartered accountants in Gosforth, who are currently looking to recruit an experienced and personable Accounts Senior to join their team.

Role Overview:

As an Accounts Senior, you will take ownership of a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients across a wide range of industries. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing accounts and tax returns, while also acting as a key point of contact for clients.

The role includes elements of client management, some reviewing of junior staff’s work, and the opportunity to be involved in delivering value-added services and advisory work alongside the partners.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders

Preparing corporation tax returns and computations

Acting as a Client Manager – handling queries, managing expectations, and developing strong working relationships

Reviewing work prepared by junior members of the team and offering feedback or support where needed

Assisting with ad-hoc assignments and supporting the wider accounts team

Ensuring compliance with deadlines and maintaining high professional standards

Candidate Profile:

ACA / ACCA Qualified or QBE, with experience in a UK practice environment

Strong knowledge of accounts preparation and general tax principles

Confident in managing client relationships and working independently

Some experience in reviewing junior work is desirable

Strong organisational and interpersonal skills

Proactive, reliable, and a team player
