Accounts Technician (Practice)

Key Responsibilities

Accounts & Tax

• Prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
  
• Prepare corporation tax returns, self-assessment and partnership tax returns.
  
• Prepare and review VAT returns and MTD returns.
  
• Support clients with bookkeeping and cloud accounting software.
  

Client Interaction & Compliance

• Liaise directly with clients to request information and resolve queries.
  
• Liaise with HMRC regarding client matters and enquiries.
  
• Ensure accurate records are maintained and deadlines are met.
  
• Build strong relationships with clients through a professional and responsive service.
  

General Support

• Assist with administrative and ad-hoc tasks as required to support the wider team.
  

Skills & Attributes

• AAT Level 4 qualified, part-qualified ACCA/ACA or Qualified by Experience (QBE).
  
• Experience working within an accountancy practice is essential, with a minimum of two years' experience preferred.
  
• Candidates should be comfortable preparing accounts and tax returns with minimal supervision.
  
• Excellent attention to detail.
  
• Confident communicator with a professional and friendly manner.
  
• Experience in a client facing role.
  
• Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload supported by the wider team.
  
• Good IT skills and familiarity with cloud accounting software. Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, TaxCalc etc. is an advantage.
