Job Description - Activities Co-ordinator - Nursing home

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Broomgrove Trust Nursing Home for the position of  Activities Co-ordinator part time, who possesses a genuine commitment to providing high quality a service to the nursing home residents as a member of the care/wellbeing team under the direction of the Registered Manager. It is a unique chance to work in a friendly and professional environment within our charitable organization. There is always support from the rest of the team (we currently have 3 full time members in Activities and we are looking to recruit another person to offer a bigger variety of activities every week).    

 

                                                       

About you:

  • Activities Co-ordinator in a care setting or elderlies with minimum 1 year experience in UK
  • Customer service experience is a bonus
  • A professional, friendly attitude 
  • Quick learner, able to implement our staff values within the team
  • Motivated and enthusiastic on mentoring and coaching all the staff
  • Drive and focus to provide excellent customer service and quality of care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience and an up to date understanding of care service practices, legislation, regulations and standards

Responsibilities

  • Working together with the rest of the team to co-ordinate a varied range of activities and entertainment, and work with the residents and staff to implement the programme of activities safely and competently.
  • To have a working knowledge of the use of creative crafts/activities as a powerful therapeutic tool in creating a sense of psychological/spiritual wellbeing in the elderly and people of all ages who have disabilities/serious/incurable physical illness.
  • To be aware of current developments in the care of the elderly and patients with palliative care needs and have the ability to develop a programme of recreational/cultural activities planned for these individuals/groups.
  • Plan, co-ordinate and deliver a rolling programme of recreational/cultural activities to meet the needs of a wide range of interests, intellects and physical and mental capabilities.
  • Ability to identify possible problems and obstacles to developing a comprehensive recreational /cultural activities programme and take action which would overcome them.
  • To notify residents of the time/date and venue of activities and look at ways of developing and passing information on to meet the varied need of the residents.
  • Deliver activities competently, safely and appropriately, being aware of resident’s physical and mental capabilities and adapting activities accordingly.
  • Enable residents and carers to maintain their individuality.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information according to our Nursing Home's policy.

Hours - days


Part time - 18 hours/ 3 days per week (must be available to work weekends, one Sunday per month)

 

Shift: 10:00 - 16:00

 

*Only 1 part time vacancy available (18 hours per week - 3 shifts)*

 

 

About Your benefits:

  • Salary - The rate of pay per hour now is £12.31 (Mon-Fri) with a 20% enhancement at weekends (£14.77 - Sat-Sun). 
  • Bank holiday rate of pay will be £18.47 and Christmas day & New Year's day pay rate will be £24.62. 
  • 6 weeks holiday entitlement per year/30 days inclusive of bank holiday, pro-rata for part time roles (after 5 years in service you receive additional holiday up to a maximum of 7 weeks per year)

Requirements - The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check through the Disclosure and Barring Service and Successful completion of a three-month probationary period.
