Job Description - Actuarial Analyst, Capital

We're looking for an  Actuarial Analyst, Capital

Based in our London office and reporting into the Head of Capital, this role will support the expansion of Hamilton’s capital modelling and investment risk functions.

The capital team is well-integrated into the wider business, leveraging its modelling and data to play a key role in many areas, for example its modelling is used to inform reinsurance purchases, as well as investment risk and capital allocation decisions at Group-level. This ensures there are always interesting projects to work on outside of the regulatory deliverables to Lloyd’s and the Central Bank of Ireland.

Hamilton Global Speciality is our multi-platform, speciality insurer operating primarily through a Lloyds Syndicate and Dublin Operating company with a managing general agency in the US.

What you will do

    • Maintain and develop entity capital models, working across all risk categories. The role would primarily focus on the Igloo internal model for our Lloyd’s syndicate S4000 and the Standard Formula for our Irish entity

    • Support the validation process to Lloyd’s, liaising with external consulting actuaries where necessary in support of this

    • Contribute to model use, such as presenting analysis on reinsurance to the Ceded Reinsurance function to inform purchase decisions

    • Help develop investment risk modelling to support the Group investment risk framework which is run by the capital team in London

    • Keep abreast of developments in the capital modelling and risk fields

    • Liaise with the profession on the market and other issues related to capital and planning

What you require for the role

        • Experience in a general insurance actuarial role or equivalent

        • Desire to build a career as a General Insurance actuary

        • Strong written and verbal communication skills

        • Ability to produce clear, well‑structured reports

        • Exceptional attention to detail

        • Background in capital model development

        • Open, innovative and inclusive approach to work, contributing positively to team culture and problem‑solving

              Desirable

              • Experience using Igloo software

              • Ability to present actuarial findings and insights to stakeholders

What you can expect from us

At Hamilton, we offer a vibrant, entrepreneurial and collaborative workplace shaped by our values: Be Smart, Be Sensible, Be Open and Be More.

Our employees consistently say they would recommend Hamilton as a great place to work — a testament to the inclusive, supportive, and empowering culture we’ve built together. We embrace individuality, value diverse perspectives, and recognise the unique contribution each person makes to our continued success.

              In good company
