Qualified Actuarial Consultants - Non- Life Reserving



Base Location:
 London, Manchester and Edinburgh plus network of 20 offices nationally:

As a Qualified Actuarial Consultant at KPMG you take a lead delivery role, managing small teams of advisors and auditors to a wide range of general insurance companies, in the Retail and Commercial sectors, including within Lloyd’s and the London Market. The entities that KPMG work with range from FTSE100 and global (re)insurers to smaller specialist insurers. You get the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects from pricing transformations to governance to data enrichment.


 


What will you need to do it?


 



  • The successful candidate is expected to be a newly or near qualified actuary

  • Degree in a numerate discipline; actuarial qualification preferred

  • Proven track record in analytical or pricing leadership with experience in the London Market

  • Innovative and entrepreneurial with the ability to bring clarity and structure to challenges that have not yet been solved.

  • Excellent technical and modelling skills, with proficiency in pricing tools, large data analysis and portfolio management skills

  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence strategic decisions.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex concepts to audiences without technical backgrounds

  • Solid understanding of London Market business


 


Technical & Functional



  • 3 years + experience in pricing for London Market insurance

  • Strong understanding of actuarial modelling and pricing using Hx Renew

  • Proven experience in pricing model or technology transformation programmes

  • Familiarity with underwriting processes and data requirements

  • Understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to pricing governance


 


Leadership & Delivery



  • Ability to influence and align senior stakeholders with competing priorities

  • Strong communication skills – capable of simplifying complex issues for executive and non-technical audiences

  • Highly organised, disciplined, and delivery-focused

  • Proactive, pragmatic, and comfortable with ambiguity

  • Collaborative partnership style with the confidence to challenge where needed

  • Strong analytical mindset combined with commercial awareness

  • Ability to work at both strategic and hands-on delivery levels


 


 


Skills we’d love to see/Amazing Extras:


 



  • Previous experience gained within a consultancy, but we are open to considering Qualified Actuaries who come from within the General Insurance industry, but can demonstrate the abilities needed to work supporting senior management efforts to cultivate and maintain target client relationships, including assisting with proposals and the development of sales materials
