On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit an Ada Software Engineer on an initial 6-month contract. As the Ada Software Engineer, you will join a small, skilled team developing middleware solutions for next-generation missile systems, working across a range of software from hardware drivers to web services within land and maritime defence projects.
Role: ADA Software Engineer Pay: £68 per hour via Umbrella Location: Bristol Contract: Monday- Friday, 37 Hours per week, 6 months Contract IR35 Status: Inside Security Clearance: SC Required to start
Responsibilities:
Develop Ada-based middleware solutions for next-generation advanced missile systems within a small, highly skilled engineering team Design, develop, and maintain software components ranging from low-level hardware drivers to high-level web services Work across multiple applications supporting both land and maritime defence projects within the systems software domain Contribute to the development and integration of software used in complex, safety- and mission-critical missile systems Collaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines to deliver robust, high-performance software solutions Support work across a broad range of defence applications spanning multiple operational and warfare domains Participate in the full software development lifecycle, contributing to design, implementation, testing, and integration activities Engage in problem-solving across diverse technical areas, ensuring adaptable and scalable software solutions Essential Skills:
A solid background in software engineering, ideally with development experience in a regulated software safety context e.g. Defence, Aerospace, Rail, Nuclear or Medical applications. Experience with Ada (preferred) or good experience with C or C++. Whilst this position is for Ada development, we welcome applicants with experience in other software languages such as C, C++ or Rust, as we have found that Ada can be mastered by capable and willing software engineers. A passion for software engineering, with the ability to innovate and think critically to solve complex software problems with a willingness to develop software skillsets. Knowledge of software design differences between Real-Time OSs and Hypervisors would be beneficial, as well as experience using Linux operating systems. Comfortable working with a team in a collaborative environment, communicating and contributing to design and implementation decisions, and supporting with integration.
