Job Purpose

Provide dedicated specialist support to children and young people diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) within educational settings. Facilitate effective learning and behavioural strategies, working closely with teaching staff, families, and other professionals to promote positive outcomes and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver one-to-one and group support tailored to the individual needs of pupils with ADHD to enhance educational engagement and achievement.
Implement evidence-based strategies and interventions designed to manage ADHD symptoms and support positive behaviour.
Collaborate with teachers and education staff to adapt teaching methods and classroom environments to suit the requirements of pupils with ADHD.
Monitor and record pupils’ progress, providing regular feedback to relevant stakeholders including parents, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Support the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) for pupils with ADHD.
Attend and contribute to meetings, reviews and training sessions related to ADHD and special educational needs.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding policies and practises at all times.
Promote emotional wellbeing and resilience among pupils through positive reinforcement and encouragement.
Provide advice and guidance to school staff on ADHD-related issues and effective support strategies.

Required Qualifications

Relevant qualification or training in special educational needs, behavioural support, or related field.
Evidence of professional development related to ADHD, such as accredited training courses or workshops.

Education

Minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Education, Health and Social Care, or equivalent.

Experience

Proven experience working directly with children or young people diagnosed with ADHD, preferably within an educational context.
Experience of implementing behavioural support strategies and adapting learning environments.
Familiarity with multi-agency working and collaboration with educational and healthcare professionals.

Knowledge and Skills

Comprehensive understanding of ADHD characteristics, challenges and evidence-based interventions.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
Ability to observe, assess and record behavioural and academic progress accurately.
Competence in maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding principles.
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time and workload efficiently.
Empathy, patience and resilience when working with young people experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications related to special educational needs, such as National Award for SEN Coordination or equivalent.
First aid certification.
Experience of using assistive technology or software designed to support learners with ADHD.

Working Conditions

Based primarily within school or educational settings in Greater London, Redbridge.
Temporary contract with full-time hours, with flexibility required to meet the needs of the role.
Work may involve supporting pupils both in classrooms and in quieter, one-to-one environments.
Occasional travel within the local area to attend meetings or training sessions.
Role requires adherence to all organisational policies including safeguarding, health and safety, and equal opportunities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
