Admin Assistant / Learning Support Assistant - Alternative Provision

Are you an organised and adaptable education professional with experience in both administration and classroom support? We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Admin Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join an Alternative Provision setting in Northamptonshire on a full-time basis.
This is a varied role where you will split your time between supporting the school office and providing learning support within the classroom. Therefore, it is essential that you have previous experience in both areas and are comfortable moving between administrative responsibilities and working directly with young people.
The Role
As part of the role, you will provide day-to-day administrative support within the school office, helping the setting run smoothly and efficiently. You will also work alongside teaching staff to support students with their learning and engagement in the classroom.
Your responsibilities may include:
Providing general administrative and office support Answering telephone calls and responding to emails Updating records and completing general data entry Supporting with school paperwork and organisation Welcoming visitors and communicating with staff, students and parents/carers where appropriate Supporting teachers and students within the classroom Providing 1:1 and small-group learning support where required Helping students remain engaged and focused on their learning Supporting students with additional needs and challenging behaviour Building positive and trusting relationships with students Helping to create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable and confident working with both adults and young people. You will need to be able to manage administrative tasks effectively while also being comfortable working in a classroom environment.
Previous experience within a school, Alternative Provision, SEN setting or similar environment would be highly beneficial. Experience supporting students with additional needs, SEMH or challenging behaviour would also be advantageous.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous administrative experience Previous classroom or learning support experience Excellent organisational and communication skills A calm, patient and adaptable approach The ability to build positive relationships with young people Confidence working independently and as part of a wider team Good IT and administrative skills A genuine interest in supporting young people who may have struggled within mainstream educationThis is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys having a varied role and wants to make a real difference both behind the scenes and directly with students.
