Your role and responsibilities 

You will:

  • provide administrative, telephone and finance support to Social Workers, Practitioners and Managers
  • act as a professional and customer-focused first point of contact for internal and external customers
  • use Microsoft Office and specialist databases to maintain records, process information and support service delivery
  • assist with financial processes, including invoices, payments, ordering and budget monitoring
  • organise meetings, prepare documentation and support team activities
  • maintain accurate records and filing systems whilst ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection requirements
  • respond to enquiries, resolve routine issues and signpost customers to the appropriate services
  • work flexibly across the team, providing support and cover where needed
  • contribute ideas to improve administrative processes and ways of working.

 

This position would suit someone who enjoys working collaboratively, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service, and is looking to make a meaningful contribution to services that support children and families across Suffolk.


You will need:

  • proven experience in an administrative or business support role, or transferable skills gained through work, volunteering or education
  • strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work accurately under pressure
  • excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel
  • experience of working with financial processes, budgets, invoices or other finance-related tasks
  • the ability to maintain accurate records and administrative systems
  • an understanding of confidentiality, data protection and the importance of handling sensitive information appropriately
  • a flexible and positive approach, with a willingness to support colleagues and adapt to changing service needs
  • the ability to work independently, use your initiative and solve routine problems effectively
  • a commitment to continuous learning, development and delivering the best outcomes for Suffolk residents.

The team 

You'll join our Business Support Team, providing vital support to Family Help Teams and Edge of Care services. The work we do helps practitioners focus on supporting children, young people and families across Suffolk.

We're a friendly and supportive team who take pride in delivering a high-quality service. We value collaboration, flexibility and continuous improvement, encouraging everyone to share ideas and contribute to positive change. No two days are the same, and you'll play an important role in helping our teams work effectively and efficiently.

We work in a hybrid way, balancing office and home working, with a minimum of two office-based days per week (pro rata for part-time staff).
