Salary: £36,000–£43,000

Location: Liverpool–South Yorkshire corridor, hybrid

Travel: Candidates may be based anywhere practical between Liverpool and South Yorkshire but must be able to travel regularly to both locations and relevant delivery sites.

Contract: Permanent, full-time

An established independent training provider is appointing an Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day coordination of Adult Skills and Employability provision. Reporting to a senior operational leader, you will manage Skills Coaches, oversee timetabling and learner progress, and ensure delivery remains compliant, timely and outcome-focused.

Key responsibilities

• Build and manage responsive delivery timetables across staff, venues and learner availability.
  
• Lead, coach and performance-manage Skills Coaches against recruitment, progress and achievement targets.
  
• Own timely learner achievement, identify slippage and implement effective interventions.
  
• Work with business development and community partners to convert referral pipelines into learner starts.
  
• Maintain delivery in line with DfE Adult Skills Fund and Mayoral Combined Authority funding rules, including eligibility, enrolment, initial assessment, ILR accuracy, evidence packs, guided learning hours and audit readiness.
  
• Support quality improvement in line with the Education Inspection Framework and learner feedback.
  
• Coordinate effectively with curriculum, MIS, administration, compliance and quality colleagues.
  
• Prepare for audits, inspections and stakeholder reporting.
  

Essential experience

• Operational management within adult education, employability or other funded learning provision.
  
• Working knowledge of Adult Skills Fund and Mayoral Combined Authority funding rules.
  
• Evidence of leading delivery teams in a compliance- and outcomes-focused environment.
  
• Strong understanding of qualification delivery, learner progress and timely achievement.
  
• Experience managing schedules, timetables or operational resource plans.
  
• Ability to travel to both Liverpool and South Yorkshire as required.
  

Desirable

• A teaching, assessing or leadership qualification such as AET, TAQA or Level 3+ Management.
  
• Experience of MIS, ILR or audit processes.
  
• Experience managing learner or staff caseloads.
