Advanced Practitioner – Multi-Agency Child Protection Team

Are you an experienced Children’s Social Worker with a strong background in safeguarding and child protection? Do you have the skills and expertise to support excellent practice, influence service development and help shape the future of child protection?
We are seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join a pioneering Multi-Agency Child Protection Team in London, Greater London. This is an exciting opportunity to work within an innovative safeguarding model, supporting effective partnership working and delivering improved outcomes for children and families.
The Role
As an Advanced Practitioner, you will provide expert social work practice within a multi-agency child protection environment, supporting complex safeguarding work and contributing to the ongoing development of practice.
You will work alongside Team Managers, Family Help services, Children’s Social Care teams and partner agencies to ensure children experiencing significant harm receive timely, effective and coordinated support.
This role offers the opportunity to influence practice improvement, mentor colleagues and contribute to a strong culture of reflection, learning and continuous development.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage complex child protection cases, including Public Law Outline (PLO) and care proceedings.
* Provide advanced social work expertise and support effective safeguarding decisions.
* Work collaboratively with partner agencies to improve outcomes for children and families.
* Support Team Managers in promoting high-quality social work practice.
* Provide guidance, mentoring and knowledge-sharing to less experienced practitioners.
* Contribute to practice development and service improvement initiatives.
* Apply evidence-based approaches, including Signs of Safety principles.
* Ensure children’s voices, wishes and experiences remain central to assessments and decision-making.
* Build strong professional relationships across Children’s Services and wider safeguarding partnerships.
* Support a positive team culture focused on learning, accountability and excellent practice.
About You
You will have:
* Qualified Social Worker status and current registration.
* Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in frontline safeguarding practice.
* Experience working with families involved in PLO and care proceedings.
* Detailed knowledge of:
* Working Together 2023
* Pan London Child Protection Procedures
* Relevant safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance
* Experience applying Signs of Safety or similar strengths-based frameworks.
* Excellent assessment, analytical and decision-making skills.
* Ability to support colleagues and contribute to practice improvement.
* A reflective, child-focused and solution-oriented approach.
