Air Import Clerk - Defence & Aerospace Freight Trainee or Experienced

We are recruitung for a freight forwarding company providing secure, reliable, and efficient logistics solutions for the defence, aerospace, and government sectors. You will be managing sensitive and time-critical air freight, requiring strict compliance with security, regulatory, and operational standards.Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage air import shipments from arrival through to final delivery

• Prepare and process customs import entries

• Deliver outstanding customer service, keeping clients fully informed throughout the import process

• Communicate effectively with airlines, ground handlers, hauliers, and internal teams

• Check and prepare documentation (AWB, commercial invoices, packing lists, licences)

• Ensure compliance with UK import regulations, defence controls, and sector-specific requirements for defence, aerospace, and government freight

• Keep records updated and assist with resolving operational issues promptly

For Experienced Applicants:

• Previous experience in air import operations within a freight forwarding environment

• Knowledge of customs entry systems (CHIEF / CDS)

• Experience handling defence/aerospace/government freight is a strong advantage

For Trainee Applicants:

• Enthusiastic about building a career in freight forwarding

• Strong organisational skills and a passion for delivering excellent customer service
