This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aircraft engineer or supervisor looking to combine hands-on engineering with leadership responsibility within a highly respected defence aviation programme. Working within a structured maintenance environment, you will support aircraft availability, technical standards, and team performance while developing your supervisory and leadership capabilities. Permanent position supporting Hawk aircraft within a military aviation environment Four-day working week with long weekends every week Opportunity to supervise and lead aircraft maintenance activities Support the RAF's fast jet training programme Develop both technical and leadership experience Work within a respected and safety-critical aviation environment Support operational aircraft maintenance at RAF Valley Shift Pattern Monday – Wednesday: 07:00 – 17:00 Thursday: 07:00 – 16:30 Enjoy a structured four-day working week, providing a long weekend every week and a strong work-life balance. Key Responsibilities Undertake and supervise aircraft depth maintenance and diagnostic activities Carry out inspections, repairs, modifications, and system testing Analyse and diagnose faults on aircraft systems and components Support maintenance delivery against operational and programme requirements Provide technical leadership and support to maintenance technicians Promote best practice and a proactive maintenance culture within the team Carry out compliance-related support activities including tooling control and oversight checks Ensure all maintenance activities comply with approved procedures and Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) requirements Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and regulatory compliance Essential Skills & Experience Previous hands-on aircraft engineering or mechanical maintenance experience Strong engineering knowledge and fault diagnostic capability Experience working within safety-critical or regulated maintenance environments Ability to lead, influence, and support maintenance personnel Strong communication, organisational, and time management skills Commitment to high standards of safety, quality, and professional conduct Eligible to obtain and maintain BPSS and SC Security Clearance Qualifications Completion of a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally Aeronautical Engineering or military equivalent City & Guilds 2675 Aeronautical Engineering & Maintenance or NVQ Level 3 in an Aeronautical discipline Aircraft platform training relevant to the fleet Trade Principles training Good IT competency Working Environment Located on the Isle of Anglesey, RAF Valley offers the opportunity to work in a unique coastal setting while supporting one of the UK's most important military aviation programmes.
