This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aircraft engineer or supervisor looking to combine hands-on engineering with leadership responsibility within a highly respected military aviation programme. You'll play a key role in supporting aircraft availability, maintaining technical standards, and leading maintenance activities within a safety-critical environment. Why Apply? Permanent position supporting Hawk aircraft within a military aviation environment 4-day working week Opportunity to supervise and lead aircraft maintenance activities Support the RAF fast jet training programme Develop both technical and leadership experience Work within an operational aircraft maintenance environment at RAF Valley Shift Pattern 36 hours per week Monday to Friday 06:00 – 13:45 Key Responsibilities Undertake and supervise aircraft depth maintenance and diagnostic activities Carry out inspections, repairs, modifications, and system testing Analyse and diagnose faults on aircraft systems and components Support maintenance delivery against operational and programme requirements Provide technical leadership and support to maintenance technicians Promote best practice and a proactive maintenance culture within the team Carry out compliance-related support activities, including tooling control and oversight checks Ensure all maintenance activities comply with approved procedures and Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) requirements Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety, and regulatory compliance Support aircraft availability and operational readiness targets Essential Skills & Experience Previous supervisory or leadership experience within an aircraft maintenance environment Fully qualified technician with relevant maintenance authorities and certifications Strong aircraft maintenance and fault diagnostic capability Broad aviation maintenance experience supported by current and recent logbook evidence Good understanding of aviation safety standards and safe systems of work Experience working within a safety-critical operational environment Strong communication and team leadership skills Eligible to obtain and maintain BPSS and Security Clearance Qualifications Completion of a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or military equivalent City & Guilds 2675 Aeronautical Engineering & Maintenance or NVQ Level 3 in an Aeronautical discipline Aircraft platform training relevant to the fleet Trade Principles training Good IT competency Working Environment RAF Valley offers the opportunity to work in a unique coastal location while supporting one of the UK's most important military aviation programmes.
