AKI London - Pastry Commis Chef

AKI is a contemporary Japanese restaurant and lounge bar, celebrated for its modern take on authentic Japanese cuisine and elegant atmosphere. We are opening a brand-new restaurant in London, set in an amazing location within a historic old bank.

We are looking for a talented and motivated Pastry Commi Chef who is excited to join a new project and help deliver the AKI experience in one of the world’s most vibrant cities

Job Role
As a Pastry Commis Chef, you will support the pastry team in the preparation and production of high-quality desserts and baked goods. You will assist in day-to-day kitchen operations while learning and developing your skills under the guidance of senior pastry chefs.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the preparation of pastry items, baked goods, and desserts.


• Following recipes and instructions from the Pastry Chef and Sous Chef.


• Preparing ingredients and ensuring workstation is clean and well-organized.


• Assisting with decorating and finishing pastries and desserts.


• Maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.


• Ensuring proper storage and rotation of ingredients.


• Supporting the team in maintaining hygiene and safety standards in line with regulations.


• Participating in training and development opportunities to grow in the role.

Job Requirements

• Previous experience in a kitchen or pastry environment is preferred.


• Basic understanding of baking techniques and interest in pastry work.


• Willingness to learn and take direction.


• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team.


• Flexible with working hours, including weekends and public holidays.


• Good communication skills in English.


• Passionate about pastry and eager to grow in the culinary field.


• Organized, enthusiastic, and a team player.


• Strong attention to detail and a positive attitude.
