Location: Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr Tydfil & Caerphilly
Contract: Full Time/Part Time roles available until the end of the academic year
Pay Rate: From £92.63 per day
Start Date: As soon as possible

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a background in Additional Learning Needs (ALN), SEN, or supporting children with challenging behaviour?

Teaching Personnel are looking for confident, patient and resilient ALN Teaching Assistants to support pupils across schools in Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr Tydfil and Caerphilly.

These roles may involve working 1:1 with pupils who display challenging behaviour, supporting children with additional needs, or providing wider classroom and small-group support. Previous experience within SEN/ALN is highly desirable, although we are also keen to hear from individuals who are confident managing challenging behaviour and feel comfortable working in a demanding but rewarding environment.

About the Role

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ALN and additional behavioural needs.
Support pupils who may display challenging, distressed or dysregulated behaviour.
Help pupils to regulate their emotions, develop positive behaviours and access their learning.
Work alongside teachers, ALNCo/SENCOs and wider support staff to implement individual support strategies.
Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
Support pupils with a range of needs, which may include ASD, ADHD, social and emotional needs, communication difficulties and behavioural needs.
Adapt your approach to meet individual pupils' needs and provide consistent, nurturing support.
Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
Follow individual behaviour and support plans while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.

We're Looking For Someone Who Is:

Experienced in SEN/ALN, challenging behaviour or supporting children with additional needs, or confident that they can step into this type of role.
Patient, calm and resilient when dealing with challenging or unpredictable situations.
Confident establishing boundaries and managing behaviour in a positive and professional way.
Caring, empathetic and committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Able to build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people.
Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work across different schools and settings.
A strong communicator who can work effectively as part of a wider team.
Reliable, proactive and able to use initiative when supporting pupils.
Previous experience within an SEN/ALN setting is desirable, but we will also consider candidates with relevant experience in care, youth work, support work, residential settings, behavioural support or other roles involving children and young people.

Requirements

Teaching Personnel provides guidance and support in obtaining:

Education Workforce Council (EWC) Registration
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
References covering the last two years of employment
