Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories (EU) Ltd., Cambridge, UK, is a specialist R&D technology centre that focuses on developing technical solutions for the production of highly complex Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and drug intermediates. With a history in world-leading asymmetric chemo- and bio-catalysis together with expertise in organic synthesis and continuous processing, coupled with high quality analytical support, our teams develop cleaner, quicker and more efficient routes to these complex molecules.

Job Description

The Position:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Analytical Scientist to support the analytical development for our API R&D projects, but also to work closely as part of a multi-disciplinary team with R&D and Process Development scientists on other complex synthetic chemistry projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join our vibrant and talented team of scientists and play a key role in the early development and optimisation of complex APIs.

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Development and optimisation of analytical methods for the analysis of small molecules (intermediates and APIs) and large molecules (biologics), and to ensure these methods are fit for purpose.
  • Collaborating closely with R&D Chemists and Biologists, Project Management, Intellectual Property, Supply Chain and Regulatory colleagues to help define project milestones and deliverables, and to ensure these goals are met.
  • Regularly presenting your work at project review meetings with colleagues in Cambridge and at other sites.
  • Ensuring experimental data and procedures are documented within ELN.
  • Compiling clear and concise reports summarising your work.
  • Keeping up to date with new developments in analytical technology and equipment to support continuous improvement efforts as well as growth of the Cambridge site.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A higher education qualification in analytical chemistry, chemistry or biochemistry.
  • Experience in chromatographic method development (UPLC/HPLC, LC/MS, GC, SFC) preferably within a pharmaceutical environment.
  • A passion for problem solving, delivering results and continuous learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills so you can be an effective team member across diverse teams and geographies.
  • Good documentation practices are mandatory: meticulous recording of all experimental work is required as well as drafting reports and technical transfer documentation.
  • Willingness to take initiative where required and work pro-actively to achieve team goals.

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Experience in the analysis of complex molecules such as peptides, antibody drug conjugates or oligonucleotides.
  • Experience in a range of analytical techniques including, High Resolution Mass Spectrometry, Tandem Mass Spectrometry, NMR, Ion Chromatography, titrations.
  • Experience in purification using preparative chromatography to purify products and isolate impurities, and experience developing and defining the purification processes for intermediates, using systems such as Cytiva ÄKTA systems.
  • Experience in instrument troubleshooting, maintenance and verification.
  • Experience with Design of Experiment or Quality by Design.
  • Experience/knowledge of Empower software, OpenLab/ChemStation data systems or similar.
