An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Application Engineer to join a well-established, innovative engineering and manufacturing business based in Lancashire.
With a long-standing history and a global customer base, the company specialises in the design and manufacture of highly engineered components and systems for the automotive sector, supplying some of the world's leading performance and luxury vehicle manufacturers.
As Application Engineer, you will bring design capability and provide technical support throughout the life cycle of new products, working closely with customers, engineering, projects, manufacturing, testing and quality teams to ensure successful product development and performance.
The Role
You will be responsible for supporting new application and product introductions, managing technical requirements and contributing to the design, validation and production launch of new products.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Working closely with customers to understand and manage technical requirements for specific applications.
* Providing technical liaison between customers and internal engineering teams.
* Evaluating concept designs and selecting appropriate design solutions.
* Creating component, sub-component and assembly 3D models and associated engineering drawings.
* Reviewing and approving drawings and technical reports.
* Carrying out tolerance stack-up, RSS, statistical and capability analysis.
* Preparing and coordinating in house tests based on customer specifications and technical data.
* Ensuring test samples and fixtures are available in line with project timings.
* Producing and reviewing test reports.
* Supporting APQP and PPAP activities.
* Generating and reviewing DFMEA documentation with cross-functional teams.
* Supporting the agreement of DVP&R requirements with customers and test engineers.
* Providing FEA support for new product designs, including preparing models and running simulations for design optimisation and DOE activities.
* Leading Engineering change requests in line with company process.
* Supporting customers with technical meetings, problem solving and vehicle validation testing.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
* HND or Degree in Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline.
* Experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment, ideally automotive.
* Strong 3D CAD modelling experience, particularly Autodesk Inventor and Vault.
* Good knowledge of engineering drawing standards and geometric tolerancing.
* Experience with engineering change processes and documentation.
* Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA and PFMEA.
* Understanding of IATF 16949 quality standards.
* Strong technical communication skills, with the confidence to liaise directly with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
* A structured and analytical approach to engineering problem solving.
* The ability to work effectively across multiple departments and projects.

Salary £40,000 - £50,000 pa depending on experience.
25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.
