Apprenticeship Job Specification

Job Title: Apprentice - Children’s Sport and Countryside Education Charity

Location: Belvoir Castle, Grantham, England

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week; between 8.30am & 7.30pm

4 days a week with the Trust and 1 day at college

Contract: Fixed-term, 18 months

Salary: min £7.55/hr

Inspiring children to lead healthy active lives through sport & countryside education

To promote the love of sport (especially cricket and basketball), develop appreciation for the British countryside and learn the value of community so that children and adults make healthy, informed life choices.

Championing equity, diversity, and inclusion so that all have access to a wide range of sports as well as learning opportunities linked to traditions and values of the English countryside.

Working with a range of partners to deliver educational activities to children and children with special needs in the local and wider community.

To help build a sustainable future for rural Britain.

As an Apprentice, you will play a key role in supporting our programmes and initiatives, while gaining valuable experience and skills. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, where your contributions will make a real difference in the community.

- Working with primary school children, including those with Special Educational Needs in both school and community settings.

- Working alongside the Trust coaches to contribute to the delivery of the Trust’s programmes.

- Working with adult volunteers assisting within our community programmes.

- Assist with administration; bookings/recording data/etc

- Assist with the production of marketing materials.

- Support the team with fundraising initiatives.

- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

- A genuine passion for sports and physical activity.

- A desire to work with children and young people, from all backgrounds to improve their lives

- Effective communication and people skills.

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Good organisational and time-management skills.

- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

- Must be able to drive and have a clean driving License

- Comprehensive training and mentorship programme

- Opportunity to gain a recognised qualifications in sports coaching.

- Hands-on experience working with a diverse range of people and communities.

- The potential of a permanent contract with the Trust.

Applicants will need to be available for a two-part interview.

Practical coaching interview where we will expect applicants to deliver a 5-minute warm up followed by a 10-minute games session to a class of approximately 20 children on Tuesday 8th July 2025.

The second part of the interview will be a face-to-face interview to be held at Belvoir Castle on Wednesday 9th July 2025.
