Apprentice Trainer

Jackson Hogg are delighted to be supporting a leading precision engineering manufacturer in the recruitment of an Apprentice Trainer to support the development of the next generation of engineering talent.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced machinist or manufacturing professional looking to take on a rewarding role where they can pass on their knowledge, mentor apprentices, and play a key role in shaping future engineers. The position offers flexibility around working hours and can be considered on either a full-time or part-time basis.

The Role

As Apprentice Trainer, you will be responsible for developing and supporting a cohort of machine shop apprentices through the early stages of their engineering careers. Working within a dedicated training facility, you will deliver practical and theoretical training, monitor progress, and provide mentorship as apprentices develop their skills before transitioning into production environments.

Key Responsibilities

* Supervise and train apprentices on manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, hand tools, and inspection equipment.

* Deliver training in programming, machine setting, engineering drawings, GD&T, tooling selection, measurement techniques, and machining principles.

* Develop training exercises, projects, and practical assignments.

* Oversee apprentice involvement in production work where appropriate.

* Support apprentice recruitment and selection activities.

* Liaise with colleges and training providers to monitor progress and achievement.

* Provide mentoring, coaching, and support throughout apprentices' development.

* Attend careers events, facilitate educational visits, and promote engineering careers within the local community.

About You

Essential

* Strong knowledge of manual and CNC machining processes.

* A solid understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing documentation.

* Experience using manual inspection and measurement equipment.

* CAD/CAM and CNC programming experience.

* Knowledge of tooling, workholding, and cutting technologies.

* Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach and develop others.

Desirable

* Previous experience training, mentoring, or supervising others.

* Understanding of quality, environmental, and health & safety management systems.

Salary & Benefits

£37,440 - £41,600 per annum (£18.00 - £20.00 per hour)
