Area Manager

Are you an experienced logistics professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for operational excellence? At DP World, we are looking for an Area Manager to oversee logistics operations in Debrecen and ensure safe, efficient and high-quality service delivery for our customer.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations across your area, coordinating teams, monitoring performance and continuously improving processes.

What will you do?

• Lead and coordinate daily logistics operations within your assigned area, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted material flow.
• Manage and support operational teams, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance and ensuring work is carried out according to defined procedures.
• Monitor staffing needs, including workforce planning, holidays and replacement coverage.
• Ensure operational processes are followed, controlled and continuously improved, identifying opportunities for optimisation and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee inventory movements and ensure accurate and efficient logistics processes.
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards, including DP World and customer requirements.
• Support and participate in internal and external audits, quality inspections and customer workshops.
• Maintain strong communication across teams and departments, ensuring that operational information, priorities and issues are effectively communicated.
• Act as a key point of contact for the customer, supporting regular communication, providing information and responding to customer needs.
• Coordinate internal training activities and ensure employees are properly informed about relevant procedures and requirements.
• Monitor operational documentation and performance reporting, providing the necessary data and reports to management and the customer.
• Promote and maintain 5S standards across the assigned area, ensuring an organised, clean and efficient workplace.
• Work closely with other departments and planning teams to implement corrective actions and achieve operational targets. 

What are we looking for?

• Logistics experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing, automotive or similar operational environment.
• Previous leadership/people management experience in a comparable operational role.
• At least a vocational qualification.
• Category B driving licence.
• Confident user of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Good English or German language skills would be an advantage.
• Strong understanding of operational processes and a hands-on approach to problem solving.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate different stakeholders effectively.
• A proactive mindset and willingness to challenge existing processes and suggest improvements.
• Strong sense of responsibility, reliability and commitment.
• Customer-oriented approach and the ability to understand and respond to customer expectations.
