Area / Shift Coordinator – Children’s Care Staffing
Location: Somerset — fully remote with occasional local travel Salary: £25,000–£27,000 per annum Hours: Full-time, with participation in a flexible out-of-hours/on-call rota Sector: Children’s social care and temporary staffing
We are supporting an established care provider with the recruitment of an experienced Area / Shift Coordinator following the award of a new children’s care staffing contract across Somerset.
This is a varied operational role combining shift coordination, client liaison, recruitment, workforce planning and compliance. You will act as the main point of contact between care providers and the support workers covering services across the local area.
The role is fully remote, although occasional travel across Somerset will be required for recruitment activity, inductions, staff checks, meetings and service visits.
Essential experience
Applicants should have experience in one or more of the following:
* Care coordination
* Shift booking or rostering
* Children’s residential care
* Children’s supported living
* Temporary healthcare or social-care staffing
* Recruitment of support workers
* Care agency operations
* An on-call or out-of-hours coordination role
You must also have:
* A good understanding of safeguarding and safer recruitment
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
* The ability to manage urgent and competing priorities
* Confident written and verbal communication
* Sound judgement when matching workers to services
* Good IT and administrative skills
* The ability to remain calm when dealing with short-notice changes
* Flexibility to participate in the agreed on-call rota
* An existing right to work in the UK
Desirable
* Level 3 or above in Health and Social Care, Recruitment, Business Administration or a related subject
* Experience recruiting children’s support workers
* Knowledge of children’s residential or supported-living services
* Experience using rota, recruitment or care-management systems
* Full UK driving licence and access to transport
Working arrangements
The organisation provides staffing support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The successful candidate will participate in an agreed rota covering some evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
This does not mean working continuously. Duty periods, rest breaks, time off and on-call arrangements will be planned in line with the employment contract and applicable working-time requirements.
