We require an inspiring, highly creative Art Teacher to deliver outstanding art, design, and visual arts instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Operating within a progressive mainstream academy framework, the successful candidate will facilitate a structured, technique-led curriculum designed to foster deep artistic enquiry, analytical sketchpad development, and confident medium manipulation, preparing all pupils thoroughly for terminal GCSE Fine Art or Art and Design public examinations and portfolio submissions.
Our academy operates as an ambitious, inclusive mainstream secondary school dedicated to high academic standards, cultural enrichment, and cultivating a strong sense of community responsibility. The campus features modern, light-filled art studios equipped with diverse media resources, digital design tools, and dedicated exhibition spaces. Our behavior management framework is built upon clear expectations, consistent routines, and mutual respect, maintaining a calm, highly purposeful studio environment that allows pupils to confidently engage in independent creative practice and expressive research.
Technique-Led Arts Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver high-quality art and design lessons across all attainment pathways, embedding consistent practice in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media to build robust foundational skills.
Cultivating Contextual Understanding: Introduce pupils to a diverse range of historical and contemporary artists, movements, and cultural traditions, systematically teaching them how to critically analyse artwork and apply these insights to their own creative journeys.
Portfolio & GCSE Preparation: Guide Key Stage 4 cohorts masterfully through the demands of GCSE Art components, focusing heavily on the rigorous annotation of sketchpads, component selection, and the execution of high-scoring final personal responses under timed conditions.
Studio & Resource Management: Oversee busy school art studios, ensuring the safe, orderly storage of student portfolios, meticulous maintenance of specialist tools and materials, and full compliance with classroom health and safety guidelines.
Community Pastoral Care: Fulfill full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, managing daily registration, delivering pastoral curriculum units, and maintaining proactive, supportive communication with families.
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Fine Art, Visual Arts, Design, or a closely related creative discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics and exceptional portfolio outcomes in terminal public GCSE Art examinations through structured, explicit art pedagogy.
Inclusive Mindset: An unwavering commitment to comprehensive education, demonstrating the patience, clarity, and adaptability required to unlock the creative potential and self-expression of pupils of all abilities.
Industrial Heritage & Creative Innovation Hub: Based in the historic, rapidly evolving city of Salford, Greater Manchester, the school capitalizes on a unique regional identity where a proud industrial heritage meets world-class contemporary media, digital tech, and creative arts infrastructure at Salford Quays and MediaCityUK. The proximity to landmarks like The Lowry provides rich, real-world inspiration for gallery visits, local history modules, and community-focused visual projects.
Connectivity & Infrastructure: The campus benefits from premium Greater Manchester transport infrastructure, offering straightforward road commuting via the M602, M60, and the East Lancashire Road (A580). Public transit links are exceptional; the borough is seamlessly served by comprehensive Bee Network bus routes, the Manchester Metrolink tram network, and localized rail links via Salford Crescent station, providing frequent, direct transit straight into central Manchester, Bolton, and across the wider North West region.
