Art Teacher (Specialist – SEN)
Teach Now is proud to be recruiting an inspiring Art Teacher for a rewarding full -time, permanent role within a specialist secondary setting in Hertfordshire. This unique opportunity is perfect for a creative educator who believes in the power of art to transform lives and unlock potential.
This setting supports children and young people with Severe and Complex Learning Difficulties, all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). As the Art Specialist, you will lead a vibrant, inclusive, and highly accessible art curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, using creativity to support sensory development, communication, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
The Role
You will design and deliver engaging, multi -sensory Art lessons tailored to a wide range of needs and abilities. Working collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals, you’ll ensure every pupil can express themselves creatively and experience success. You’ll also take a lead on curriculum development, ensuring progression, continuity, and innovation across the school, while embedding art into cross -curricular projects and whole -school events.
The Ideal Candidate
We welcome applications from qualified teachers with QTS and a background in Art or a related creative discipline. SEN experience is desirable but not essential—what matters most is your passion for inclusive education, adaptability, and commitment to seeing every child thrive. Experience with sensory -based learning, alternative communication methods (such as PECS or Makaton), or therapeutic art approaches would be an advantage.
