A forward-thinking secondary school in Walsall is seeking a creative and passionate Art Teacher to join its successful Art & Design Department. This is a full-time, permanent position suitable for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are committed to nurturing creativity and artistic expression in young people.
The school has a strong commitment to the creative arts and recognises their importance in supporting student confidence, wellbeing, and academic development. The Art Department benefits from dedicated studio spaces, kiln facilities, and a wide range of traditional and digital media resources. Student artwork is regularly showcased throughout the school and within the local community.
The leadership team is supportive and places strong emphasis on professional development, collaboration, and maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and inspiring Art lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. Responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering high-quality Art lessons aligned with the national curriculum and exam board specifications.
Teaching a broad range of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art.
Encouraging experimentation, independent thinking, and creative risk-taking.
Assessing, monitoring, and tracking student progress.
Supporting GCSE and/or A-Level coursework and exhibition preparation.
Contributing to enrichment opportunities such as clubs, trips, and whole-school creative events.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with strong subject knowledge in Art & Design.
A portfolio demonstrating practical expertise across a range of media.
Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
Ability to inspire and challenge students of all abilities.
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A supportive and collaborative Art Department.
