Empowering Learning are currently looking for an Art Technician to join a secondary school in Southwark from October, supporting the Art Department through to the end of the academic year.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in Art, Design, Art & Textiles or a similar creative subject who enjoys working in a school environment and supporting both teachers and students.

The Role

As an Art Technician, you will work closely with the Art Department to make sure lessons run smoothly and students have access to the equipment and materials they need.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing materials, equipment and resources for Art lessons
Supporting teachers during practical lessons
Setting up and clearing away classrooms and workshops
Maintaining and organising art equipment and materials
Helping students use equipment safely and appropriately
Keeping art rooms clean, tidy and well organised
Supporting with displays and student artwork
Monitoring stock levels and ordering materials when required
Carrying out basic maintenance and preparation of materials
Providing general support to the Art Department when needed

About You

The school is looking for someone who is:

Experienced in an Art, Design or creative environment
Ideally experienced working in a school or educational setting
Confident using a range of art materials and equipment
Organised and able to manage several tasks at once
Practical and hands-on with a good eye for detail
Comfortable working with secondary school students
Reliable, approachable and able to work well as part of a team
Available to commit from October 2026 until the end of the academic yearPrevious experience as an Art Technician, Art Teaching Assistant, Art Graduate or within a creative/art-based role would be considered.
