A great opportunity has recently become available for a Mental Health Support assistant in a lovely Specialist school in Maidenhead. If you are interested in working with children who have struggles with their mental health then this is the perfect opportunity for you! The position is to start in January 2026.

This lovely inclusive school are looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual to come in with a positive attitude and uplift their students.

Ideally the Mental Health Support Assistant will be a graduate with a degree in psychology, criminology or sociology. Those with a background in sport, art or music are also encouraged to apply! A degree however is not essential and those with passion and a great work ethic are most welcome and encouraged to apply!

Your role as a Mental Health Support assistant will be to provide support to students who are having a difficult time with processing and regulating their emotions.
Some of these students will have some behavioural needs. Because they struggle to regulate their emotions, they may have trouble with their behaviour. You will help de-escalate any situations and redirect the children.
You will support them during the school day and encourage them to process their emotions in healthy and positive ways.
While doing this, you will also support the class teacher with general class duties, such as ensuring the classroom is a safe and engaging environment.
A day at this specialist school is structured, with every child having a personalised education and health care plan.
They will all also have individualised goals based on their personal needs. You will be an important part in helping set the students up for success!
To be a successful Mental Health Support Assistant, you will need to have patience, have a positive outlook, be enthusiastic and set a good example for the students.
