Job Description - Assembler

Job Title: Assembler

Salary: £28,800

Location: Northamptonshire

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Shift: 07:00 - 16:15 , Monday - Thursday with ½ hour unpaid lunch break and 2x 10-minute paid breaks. 07:00 - 12:00 hours, Friday with 1x 10-minute paid break

The Assembler position:

An established Global Manufacturer based in Northamptonshire are looking for an Assembler to join their assembly and testing service within the production line team and wider Operations department. Working within an experienced team you will use a variety of production assembly tools and bespoke processes / inspection tools to assemble and test a variety of instrumentation to exacting standards.

Main Responsibilities:

Primary

  • To carry out all the assembly, fitting, testing and inspection work to production of the company product ranges.
  • To acquire the knowledge and skills for assembling and testing the complete size / range of instruments ensuring the necessary quality standards are achieved.
  • To assist in other production related tasks, when required by the line team leader or Production Manager as appropriate within the line or wider production department.
  • To assist Production engineering department in developing and maintaining assembly shop floor documentation.
  • To work in accordance with Health & Safety procedures as set out by the company, especially regarding Manual handling and PPE.
  • Support customer inspection activity.
  • To maintain all assembly tools and keep equipment in good working condition and keep the workstations tidy / organised in line with company housekeeping standards.
  • To assist in development of new production methods, to assist in improvements to the present product lines or development of new products.
  • Perform TPM and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and fixtures as requested.
  • To support continuous improvement activity and take an active role in the implementation of improvements.

Secondary

  • Assist in the removal of parts reworking of all products.
  • Assist with reworking of all products.
  • Perform final inspection checks on all products after undertaking of assembly, testing and inspection has been completed before allowing the transfer for calibration.
  • Perform final inspection of all products prior to release for dispatch through a variety of tasks. These are, but not limited to:
  • Upload data using PC software.
  • Print calibration certificates.
  • Print and affix data labels.
  • Perform visual checks.
  • Check all relevant paperwork and documentation.
  • Ensure accessories requested on production order are correct.
  • Undertaking of leak checking procedures and all products after completion of bung welds.
  • Assist with ensuring all products have the best finish possible (bead blast.)
  • Assist with PDI inspections if and when required.
  • Ensure pairing and weighing of tubes for all products is undertaken correctly.
  • Support customer inspection activity.

Skills and Competencies:

Experience:

  • Basic PC skills - including knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel &
  • Minimum 2 years' experience assembly related work within high technology production manufacturing company.
  • Some formal training or, practical / theoretical knowledge of general engineering and / or assembling of electronic precision components.
  • Production experience in a small batch capital investment goods environment.

Job related aptitude and skills:

  • Excellent accuracy of work.
  • Good speed and consistency of assembling and related jobs.
  • Good interpersonal skills and team working.
  • Working to tight deadlines.
  • Experience reading manufacturing drawings / specifications or work instructions.
  • Able to work in a clean shop floor environment with moderate degree of physical work.
