Assistant Accountant

My client is an ambitious and rapidly expanding PE-backed organisation based in Leicester, looking for a bright and enthusiastic Assistant Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. • You're a recent Finance/Accounting graduate with approximately 1 year of practical experience, eager to build upon your foundational knowledge.
• You're nearing completion of your AAT qualification and are ready to take the exciting leap into ACCA or CIMA studies.
• You're driven, keen to learn, and possess a strong desire to progress within a fast-paced commercial setting.

What you'll be doing:

As the Assistant Accountant, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the finance function across a range of activities, including:

• Assisting with the preparation of management accounts.
• Reconciliations and ledger maintenance.
• Processing invoices and expenses.
• Supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
• Assisting with financial analysis and reporting.
• Contributing to process improvements and system enhancements.
• Ad-hoc finance duties as required to support the team.

What we're looking for:

• A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field OR nearing completion of AAT.
• Approximately 1 year of experience in a finance role (desirable for graduates).
• A strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive and positive attitude with a desire to learn and grow.
